Twenty-two Austin High School students applied for the Alumni Association’s 2008 scholarships. The applicants were interviewed on Monday, May 5, 2008 by the Scholarship Committee consisting of Joyce Clinkscales Adams ‘53, Fred Gerbode ’45 and Shirley Eaton Gerbode ’45.

All of the applicants were deserving and had high academic standings and outstanding leadership qualities.  The decision was difficult, but after careful consideration by the committee members, four students were selected to receive the $2,000 scholarships. Their names, planned schools and planned courses of study are:

The scholarship awards will be $1,000 for the Fall semester and if the student passes all courses (12 hours minimum), another $1,000 for the Spring Semester.  If the students pass an additional minimum of 12 credit hours for the Spring Semester, they may reapply and will be considered for a second year scholarship of  $2,000 based on the same requirements.
