We are
Moses Villalpando ’67, Judy DeVies Mathis ’63, Hudson Lee ’58 and Joe Pena ’66,
we are working on a memorial for the students who attended or graduated from
Austin who gave their lives in the service of their country. We will be adding
two new plaques to the already existing one for the time period 1941 – 1945 for
those that gave their lives in WWII. The two additional plaques will be for the
Korean Conflict and the Vietnam
War, and if necessarya plaque for the Gulf War and
Iraq.We are also adding a SF Austin Header Plaque, and having the WWII Plaque
cleaned and polished and moved to the other wall. The memorial will be in place
for the 70th Anniversary for Austin High School on Saturday,
September 8, 2007.

you know or anyone who gave their lives while serving in the Armed Forces during

We are
looking for information to include any commendations they may have received,
pictures of the individuals or any newspaper articles about them. We are going
to fill a notebook with this information and keep it in the library at Austin
High. We do not need originals just copies. This to pay Tribute and Honor to
those who served their country.
We would
like to have as many of the Fallen Heroes family members at one or both of the
following events: May 28, 2007, at 11:00 A.M. (Memorial
Day) ceremony with a flag for each Hero, (60), each of their names will
be read.
Prior to
the ceremony their will be a free breakfast at the KC Hall on Telephone at the Leeland insection at 9:00 A.M.

If you work for a company that has a matching funds program in place where they
will match any donation you make it would be a great way to double your
donation. We are estimating the cost at approximately $6,000.00 to accomplish
this project and hope to have it in place by the middle of July.
An
additional ‘special plaque’ will be placed on the wall with the names of all
persons making a donation of $500.00(dollars) or more.
